Class for Seniors at Grove Street Community Center, Asheville NC

Restorative class for Seniors

It’ll be a mix of asanas with supports (e.g., chair and tennis balls), somatic awareness inquiries, and Qi Gong. Come restore, renew, unwind, and unfold more fully into your felt sense of being.

Just show up…no registration or class fee. We may start a donation bowl for a ‘cause’, that the class chooses. There’s so many ‘causes’. That’ll be up to everybody, not just me.

Address: 36 Grove Street, Asheville NC 28801

Classes are currently on Hiatus...Transitioning again.

(On her decision to stop wearing clothes)

Coins in the hand
Can be stolen,
But who can rob this body
Of its own treasure.

The last thread of clothing
Can be stripped away,
But who can peel off Emptiness,
That nakedness covering all?

Fools, while I dress
In the Jasmine Lord’s morning light,
I cannot be shamed—
What would you have me hide under silk
And the glimmer of Jewels?

Mahadeviyakka
She was married to a local ruler in her teens and ran away to travel alone. Her only true lover was Shiva the White Jasmine Lord.

Restore and Renew Seniors Class

In Asheville, at Haw Creek Commons there will be weekly classes, on Fridays, in the Sanctuary. Classes are donation-based with a non-profit resource in the community receiving 1/2 of the donations. A new non-profit resource will be identified every 3 months.

Friday morning class: 10:00a-11:30a

General specifics:

Class description: We will be softening into ourselves, in order to explore our sensory perceptions more fully. A developmental approach grounded in Body-Mind Centering philosophy will be the guiding map throughout our contemplative approach, along with asanas, journaling, and poetry.

Instructor:  Bobbie Edwards (RYT- 200 hr teacher) My current intentions are: To live more fully in the present with an adeptness I am cultivating. To live in a continuous communion with the divine and to explore this as a process of allowing as opposed to trying and as an embrace of the waiting.

Community Donation Classes for Seniors

I am in process of finding a space that will allow me to resume teaching after a hiatus. I’m on the move AGAIN and am in hopes of something beginning so VERY soon. If only there were 8 hours extra in every day…like a 32 hour day.

During my hiatus, I’ve continued to develop my private yoga practice (that means, JUST me on the mat); continued to study with HS Arun when he has been in the US; continued study with Lisa Clark, who’s a Senior Teacher of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen’s, Body-Mind Centering. I’ve begun studying psychoneuroenergetics which has a Vagus nerve component-YAY! (and leading a yoga class when we get together); and have taken several Anatomy Trains workshops and hope to continue to do so. I am certain all of this will satisfyingly translate into a restorative class for those who attend.
